Anonplus Press Release
Anonplus.com was updated today with the first news on the project since the beta release on November 5th. The document outlines a basic history of the project and details the current features of the Anonplus social network. The website describes the document as a description of the the future of Anonplus and then boldly asks "Anonplus is here. Are you ready?" So now I must ask you, are you ready for Anonplus?
I have included a screenshot of what Anonplus currently looks like. Actually, this is the first time a screenshot has been released to the general public. As the press release notes, the interface looks similar to other social networks but since most social networks look extremely similar, Anonplus should fit right in. Because I am a developer of the project I get to see all the cool new features before anyone else and I can say that the project is really starting to make progress. It is not possible to use Anonplus almost as if it is a normal social network. The fact that your posts are not stored at this point is a little bit of a problem but you can still chat with your friends if they are connected.
The press release also mentions the growth of the Anonplus development team which is now up to seven members. The software is currently running on Linux, Windows, and Mac computers so anyone can use it.
But there are some secret plans for Anonplus that are not mentioned in the press release. The development team is working on making the software compatible with Android and iPhone devices so that people can do secure social networking wherever they are without fear of having their private information sold or their connection spied upon. Anonplus is starting to look very promising and it might just be the viable Facebook alternative that we all need.
